Truist Login: Sign In to Online Banking and the Mobile App

Quick answer: To do a Truist login, open your browser, type truist.com into the address bar yourself, then enter your User ID and password in the sign-in box at the top of the page and select Sign in. On your phone, open the Truist mobile app and sign in with the same User ID and password you use online. One profile covers both.

Truist keeps the front door simple. The same login that opens your online banking also works in the mobile app, and it reaches your checking, savings, credit card, and loan accounts in one place. If the bank sees something unusual when you sign in, it may text or email you a one-time passcode to confirm it is really you, so keep your phone number and email current in your profile. The steps below walk through the web sign in, the app, former BB&T and SunTrust accounts, password resets, and what to try when the Truist bank login will not go through.

A quick note on safety: this is an independent help guide. We are not Truist, and we are not affiliated with the bank. We do not host a login box, collect your details, or show any logo. Every link here points to an official truist.com page. Always start your Truist account login by typing the web address yourself rather than clicking a link in an email or text.

Which Truist login do you need?

Most people only ever use one sign-in, the personal online banking login on the Truist homepage. That single login shows your everyday accounts and your Truist credit card together. A few products use their own doors, mostly on the business and commercial side. Match your situation to the table before you sign in.

If you are not sure which one fits, start with the personal login on the homepage. It covers the widest range of accounts.

How to sign in to Truist online banking on the web

The Truist online banking login lives right at the top of the homepage, so there is no separate page to hunt for. Here is the full run through.

  1. Open your browser and type truist.com in the address bar. Press Enter. Do not reach the site through a search ad or an emailed link.
  2. Find the sign-in box in the top area of the page. It has two fields, User ID and Password.
  3. Enter your User ID. If you are on your own device, you can tick Save user ID so you do not have to retype it next time. Leave it unchecked on a shared or public computer.
  4. Type your password. Passwords are case sensitive, so watch your caps lock key.
  5. Select Sign in.
  6. If Truist asks for a verification code, it will send a one-time passcode to the phone number or email on your profile. Enter that code to finish the Truist online login.

Once you are in, you land on your account summary. From there you can move money, pay bills, view statements, and open your credit card details. When you finish, use the Sign off or log out link, especially on a device that is not yours.

Truist mobile app login

The Truist mobile app uses the very same profile as the website, so there is nothing new to set up if you already bank online. Download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, open it, and sign in with your existing User ID and password. If your phone supports it, you can usually turn on fingerprint or face sign-in inside the app settings after your first login, which saves typing later.

If the app login fails but the website works, the fix is almost always on the app side. Check that you are on the latest version, close and reopen it, and confirm your phone has a steady connection. Your password is identical in both places, so if you change it on the web, use the new one in the app too.

Biometric sign-in is a convenience, not a separate account. Truist uses a two-step sign-in, so the app may still ask you to verify with fingerprint or face, or with a one-time code. If fingerprint or face sign-in stops working after a phone update, open the app settings, turn it off, sign in once with your User ID and password, then turn it back on.

Former BB&T or SunTrust customers: where you log in now

BB&T and SunTrust completed their merger of equals to become Truist back in December 2019. That means there is no separate BB&T or SunTrust login anymore. If you were a customer of either bank, your accounts moved to Truist, and you now sign in through the Truist online banking login at truist.com or the Truist app.

During the switch, people were asked to type their User ID and password by hand on the first sign-in, even if their browser tried to autofill the old details, and to confirm their contact information so one-time passcodes could reach them. If you have not logged in since the transition and your old credentials do not work, use the Forgot user ID or Reset password links described below, or call Truist to get back in. For a mortgage that started with one of the legacy banks, there are dedicated servicing numbers in the support section further down.

Commercial clients have an extra note. Former SunTrust SunView users were moved to Truist One View, and the old company ID is no longer part of the sign-in. Former Truist Commercial Online users were also directed there. See the business and commercial section below.

Reset your Truist user ID or password

Forgetting a User ID or password is the most common reason a Truist login stalls, and both are self-service. The recovery links sit right next to the sign-in box.

  • Forgot your User ID: select Forgot user ID? by the sign-in fields and follow the prompts to look yours up.
  • Reset your password: select Reset password. For a personal account, you choose your account type, then verify your identity and set a new password.
  • Business accounts: a business password reset starts with your User ID and the email on file. If you cannot remember either one, you will need to contact your account administrator rather than reset it yourself.

Pick new credentials you have not used elsewhere, and store them somewhere safe. If the reset tool cannot verify you, stop and call the bank instead of guessing, since repeated wrong attempts can lock the account.

Truist login not working? Match the fix to the problem

When the Truist bank login refuses to cooperate, the cause is usually small. Find your symptom in the table and try the matching fix first.

What you seeLikely causeWhat to try
Password rejectedCaps lock, a typo, or an old passwordRetype carefully, then use Reset password if it still fails
User ID not recognizedWrong ID, or you never enrolledUse Forgot user ID?, or enroll in online banking if you have no profile yet

App login fails but web worksOutdated app or a connection issueUpdate the app, restart it, and check your internet connection

If none of these clear the problem, the online and mobile banking support line below can reset things from their side.

Register for online access

No User ID yet? Then you have not enrolled, and that is a quick one-time setup. On the Truist homepage, select Enroll in online banking near the sign-in box. You will confirm a few details to prove the account is yours, create your User ID and password, and set up how you want to receive verification codes. Once that is done, the same credentials work for both the website and the Truist app, so you only enroll once.

Have your account information handy, and enroll on your own device over a connection you trust rather than public Wi-Fi.

What you need to register for online banking

Enrollment goes faster when you gather a few things first.

  • Your Truist account details, so the bank can match the enrollment to an account that is yours.
  • A phone number and email you can reach right now, since Truist sends a verification step during setup.
  • A User ID and password you have not used on other sites.
  • Your own device and a trusted connection, not public Wi-Fi.

Registering also turns on the security tools that come with online banking, including multi-factor sign-in, card controls, paperless statements, and account alerts.

Security and fake-site checks

Scammers copy bank login pages, so a couple of habits keep your Truist account login safe.

  • Type the address yourself. Go to truist.com directly. Do not sign in through a link in a text, email, or search ad.
  • Check the address bar. The real site is on the truist.com domain and loads over a secure connection. Watch for odd spellings or extra words in the web address.
  • Expect verification codes only after you start. Truist sends a one-time passcode to the phone or email on your profile when it sees unusual sign-in activity. A code that arrives when you did not try to log in is a warning sign, so do not share it.
  • Truist will not ask for your full password or a code out of the blue. If someone calls or messages asking for them, hang up and call the number on the back of your card.
  • Use the built-in tools. Inside online and mobile banking you can set up alerts and card controls to catch anything odd quickly.

If you think your login was exposed or you spot a charge you did not make, change your password and report it to Truist right away.

Truist customer service numbers

When you cannot sort out the Truist login yourself, these official numbers from the Truist contact page can help. General teammate hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM ET, Saturday 8 AM to 5 PM ET, with automated help on Sunday.

Truist login on the website vs the Truist mobile app

The website and the app share one profile, so your User ID and password work in both. What changes is how you reach them and what each does best.

Pay bills and transfer money after you sign in

Moving money is a main reason people log in. Once signed in, look for the Transfer & Pay area. That is the hub for transfers between your own accounts, bill payments, and sending money to others.

Transfer money between your Truist accounts

  1. Sign in at truist.com or in the app.
  2. Open Transfer & Pay.
  3. Choose the account to move money from and the account to move it to.
  4. Enter the amount and the date you want it to go.
  5. Review the details, then confirm the transfer.

Pay a bill with Truist bill pay

  1. Sign in, then open Transfer & Pay and go to bill pay.
  2. Add the company or person you want to pay if they are not on your list yet.
  3. Enter the amount and pick the date.
  4. Choose a one-time payment or set a repeating schedule for a bill that comes every month.
  5. Review and submit, then check the payment shows as scheduled.

Send money with Zelle and set up external transfers

Zelle is built into Truist online banking and the app, so there is no separate Zelle app to download. It works when both people have U.S. checking or savings accounts, and money to someone already enrolled usually lands within minutes.

Set up Zelle the first time

  1. Sign in, then open Transfer & Pay and choose Send Money with Zelle.
  2. Accept the terms.
  3. Pick an email address or a U.S. mobile number to enroll.
  4. Enter the one-time code sent to that email or number.
  5. Choose the checking or savings account you want Zelle to use.

Send money with Zelle

  1. Open Send Money with Zelle after you sign in.
  2. Pick a recipient from your contacts or search for one.
  3. Confirm the recipient's name and contact details, because payments act like sending cash.
  4. Enter the amount, add an optional note, review, and send.

A few things matter. Zelle payments cannot be reversed once sent, and you can cancel only if the recipient has not enrolled yet. An unclaimed payment expires after 14 days and returns to your account. Only send to people you trust. For transfers to your own outside accounts or by wire, use the options in Transfer & Pay or call the bank.

Truist for business and commercial login

Business and commercial customers do not all use the same door. Where you sign in depends on the product you have.

Small business online and mobile banking

If you run a small business on everyday business banking, you sign in at the same box on truist.com and in the same app as personal customers, using your business online banking User ID and password. The sign-in route is the same homepage box.

Commercial and treasury: Truist One View

Larger commercial and treasury clients use Truist One View and related platforms, not the personal homepage login. You reach these from the Sign in to other Truist accounts link or the commercial and treasury sign-in page. Truist One View lives at oneview.truist.com.

  1. Go to the commercial and treasury sign-in page on truist.com, or open oneview.truist.com.
  2. Select Truist One View.
  3. Enter your User ID and password.
  4. Complete the second step with your security method, which may be a hard token device or the Truist Authenticator app.

Commercial sign-in covers many treasury and commercial applications, such as Truist Treasury Manager, Remote Deposit Capture, Payables and Invoice Management, and ACH Fraud Control. Your company's primary administrator normally issues the tokens. If you are unsure which application you use, your relationship manager or Treasury Solutions can point you to it.

Mortgage login and servicing after you sign in

There is no separate website login for a Truist mortgage you already have. You view and manage an existing mortgage through your regular online banking account. Sign in at truist.com or in the app, and the mortgage shows alongside your other accounts, with its balance and payment details.

Some servicing tasks are handled by phone. To manage an existing mortgage, the servicing line is 855-257-4040. If your loan started with one of the legacy banks, use the matching number: 800-634-7928 for a SunTrust-originated mortgage and 800-295-5744 for a BB&T-originated mortgage. If you are shopping for a new mortgage rather than servicing one, that is a different line and a different process from the login described here.

Card controls and alerts after you log in

After you sign in, you can lock a card, limit how it is used, and turn on alerts about activity as it happens.

Lock or unlock a debit or credit card

  1. Sign in to the app, tap Main Menu, and choose Card Controls. On the website, select the More tab and choose Card Controls, or open your username in the top right, go to Profile & Settings, then Accounts & Cards, then Card Controls.
  2. Pick the card you want to manage.
  3. Turn the lock on to stop new purchases, or turn it off to use the card again.

Card controls do more than a simple lock. You can set a dollar cap on a single transaction, choose where the card can be used, and block purchase types such as ATM, online, phone, digital wallet, and international. If you misplace a card, lock it from your phone, then unlock it when you find it. You can also lock or unlock by calling 844-487-8478.

Set up account and card alerts

  1. Sign in to online banking.
  2. Open the main menu and select Alerts, or go to My Settings and select Alerts.
  3. Add and verify your mobile number.
  4. Choose the alerts you want and set the amounts that matter to you.
  5. Save your preferences.
Alert typeWhat it tells you
Balance alertsDaily balance, or a low or high balance you set
Transaction alertsPurchases above an amount you choose, international charges, and online or phone transactions where the card is not present
Security alertsChanges to your User ID, password, or email, and other profile changes
Account alertsAn overdrawn account and statement delivery changes

When the one-time passcode will not arrive

  1. Give it a short moment, since text and email can lag.
  2. Request the code again from the same screen.
  3. Check that the phone number and email on your profile are current, because an old number is the usual reason a code never lands.
  4. Once you are in, update your contact details so the next code reaches you. If you cannot get in at all, call online and mobile banking support at 888-228-6654.

A one-time passcode is tied to your own sign-in. If a code arrives when you did not try to log in, treat it as a warning. Do not share it with anyone who calls, because Truist will not ask you for it out of the blue.

Paperless statements and statement delivery

Paperless is managed inside the same login, and it helps security, since fewer mailed statements means fewer chances for a document to be stolen. Some mobile app features also expect paperless enrollment.

  1. Sign in to online banking or the app.
  2. Open your profile or settings area, where account documents and statement preferences live.
  3. Choose paperless or electronic delivery for the accounts you want.
  4. Confirm the email on file is current, so you are notified when a new statement is ready.

Statement history varies by account, so a newer account may show fewer months at first. If an account or statement is missing after you sign in, check that the account is not hidden in your view and that paperless is on for it.

Frequently Asked Questions & Answers (FAQS):

The official site is truist.com. The sign-in box sits at the top of the homepage. Type the address into your browser yourself rather than using a link from an email or text, and enter your User ID and password there.

Yes. The app is optional. You can sign in to Truist online banking from any browser at truist.com using the same User ID and password. The app just gives you the same accounts on your phone.

Yes. One profile covers both. If you change your password on the website, use the new one in the app too, since there is only a single set of credentials.

Stop entering guesses, which only extends the lock. Use the Reset password link if it is available, or call Truist at 844-487-8478 to have the account unlocked and verify your identity.

If Truist detects unusual or suspicious activity at sign in, it sends a one-time passcode by text or email to confirm it is you. Keep your phone number and email current in your profile so the code reaches you.

At truist.com or in the Truist app. BB&T and SunTrust merged to become Truist, so there is no separate login for either. If your old credentials fail, use the reset links or call the bank.

For personal banking, yes. Your checking, savings, loans, and Truist credit card appear together after you sign in. Some business and commercial products use their own platforms linked from the sign-in options.

Not usually. Most failed logins come from a wrong password, an old User ID, or a verification code sent to outdated contact info. Try the fixes in the troubleshooting table first, then call online banking support at 888-228-6654 if the problem continues.

Sign in to online banking or the app, open Transfer & Pay, and choose Send Money with Zelle. Accept the terms and enroll an email or U.S. mobile number the first time. After that, pick a recipient, confirm their details, enter the amount, and send. Payments to someone already enrolled usually arrive within minutes.

After you sign in, tap Main Menu, choose Card Controls, pick the card, and turn the lock on. Turn it off to use the card again. On the website, the same control is under the More tab, or in Profile & Settings under Accounts & Cards. You can also call 844-487-8478.

Your Truist account details, a phone number and email you can reach for the verification step, and a new User ID and password you have not used elsewhere. Enroll on your own device over a trusted connection. The same credentials then work on the website and in the app.

Go to the commercial and treasury sign-in page on truist.com or to oneview.truist.com, select Truist One View, and enter your User ID and password. You then complete a second step with a hard token or the Truist Authenticator app. Tokens are usually issued by your company's primary administrator.

Truist login issues today and authentication problems

Sometimes a failed Truist login is not your fault. Truist occasionally runs planned maintenance, and during those windows online banking, the app and some phone services can be down for everyone. If you think there are Truist login issues today, wait a little and try again, or check Truist’s official help channels before resetting anything. Most sign-in failures, though, come down to authentication: an expired saved password, a one-time passcode that went to an old phone number, or the Truist Authenticator app needing to be set up again. Fix the authentication step first, then sign in.
