Article Type: Original Article | Indexed Archive: Volume 12
Orofacial pain (OFP) and temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) are complex conditions whose chronicity and severity are strongly influenced by psychosocial factors, notably anxiety. The assessment of these factors in dental practice is hampered by the length of traditional instruments (e.g., GAD-7, HADS), creating a gap between clinical necessity and application feasibility....

Endometriosis and TMD as Phenotypes of the Same Systemic Disease: A New Paradigm for the Integrated Care of Pain in Women
Leonardo Brigido Metello Neves, Bruno Luiz Baldessarini, Rafael Coutinho Mello Machado and Bernardo Correia Lima
Article Type: Narrative Review | Indexed Archive: Volume 12
Endometriosis and temporomandibular disorders (TMD) represent debilitating chronic conditions affecting millions of women worldwide, imposing intense pain and a profound compromise on quality of life. Emerging evidence reveals a robust and non-fortuitous systemic connection between both pathologies. Methods: This integrative review critically analyses the literature published between 2000 and 2025 from the PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO, and LILACS databases....

Article Type: Review Article | Indexed Archive: Volume 12
Canine-guided occlusion demonstrated a significant reduction in masticatory muscle activity, lower incidence of occlusal wear, and fewer ceramic fractures compared to group function occlusion. While no clear causation was established between occlusal schemes and temporomandibular disorders, group function occlusion showed a stronger association with TMD symptoms. For implant-supported prostheses, canine-guided occlusion showed better biomechanical behaviour and less bone resorption....

The Simplified Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS-S): A Pilot Study of a Screening Tool for Orofacial Pain
Leonardo Brigido Metello Neves, Bernardo Correia Lima, Bruno Luiz Baldessarini, Pires JDM and Rafael Coutinho Mello Machado
Article Type: Original Article | Indexed Archive: Volume 12
The management of orofacial pain (OFP) and temporomandibular disorders (TMD) is based on the biopsychosocial model, where pain catastrophizing is a critical predictor of worse clinical outcomes. Although the 13-item Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS) is considered the gold standard, it is impractical in high-volume clinics, creating a gap between research and practice....

Cannabinology in Dentistry: Therapeutic Applications and Future Directions
Leonardo Brigido Metello Neves, Bernardo Correia Lima, Fabio Vidal Marques, Bruno Luiz Baldessarini and Rafael Coutinho Mello Machado
Article Type: Narrative Review | Indexed Archive: Volume 12
Cannabinology, the study of compounds derived from Cannabis sativa and their interactions with the endocannabinoid system (ECS), has gained increasing relevance in dentistry. Cannabinoids such as cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) demonstrate therapeutic potential in the management of orofacial pain, dental anxiety, periodontal inflammation, and tissue regeneration....
