The 56-year-old presented with progressive left upper and lower extremity weakness. He underwent resection of the ventral intradural lesion at C6-7. The surgery involved a C5-7 corpectomy for resection and a C2- T3 posterior spinal fusion for stabilization. His weakness resolved postoperatively. We then present a systematic review of the literature on the dissemination of low-grade posterior fossa ependymoma. Fifteen studies were identified, involving 23 patients....

This case involves a 56-year-old female patient presented to the clinic with complaints of persistent cervical pain and predominant weakness in the lower extremities over the past three months. Physical examination revealed clinical signs at the dorsal level. Further imaging revealing a lesion within the spinal canal exerting a mass effect on neural structures. An elective procedure was performed, including a fluoroscopy-guided laminectomy at the previously identified affected level (T2), the le...

Lumbosacral lipomas, the most common form of spinal dysraphism, represent a challenge in clinical decision making as optimal management in asymptomatic patients is still unclear. There is ongoing debate whether these patients should undergo prophylactic surgery or not. Especially when multiple management options exist, shared decision making should be prioritised as it has been shown to decrease decisional conflict and anxiety and increase decisional satisfaction (despite outcome), knowledge, qu...

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is an established treatment for advanced Parkinson’s disease, and although generally safe, complications related to the implantable impulse generators (IPGs), such as infection, skin erosion, or device malfunction, can arise. Malignancy arising at the IPG implantation site is exceedingly rare, with few cases previously reported, related to pacemakers IPGs. We present case of invasive ductal breast carcinoma developing adjacent to a DBS IPG. A 77-year-old woman with...

We report the case of a 27-year-old male with a history of ventriculoperitoneal shunt placement at 8 months of age for congenital hydrocephalus. He presented to the emergency department two days after a minor cervical trauma, exhibiting signs of intracranial hypertension and a rapid decline in consciousness. On examination, his Glasgow Coma Scale score was 12/15. Cervical spine radiography revealed a disconnection of the shunt tubing at the cervical level....
